week 7 of 8

holy lord, the two busiest weeks of summer school are in full drive tomorrow. And here i am, reading fashion blogs and watching parametric design tutorials. Clearly, i’m not in work mode after our midreview.

Many changes to go down tonight and at the rate i’m going an allnighter is in store. Despite this lazy spell, i know i’ll pull through. Surprisingly enough they were very in favor of my site strategy and overall design scheme. #woo

Now off to bake some potatoes&asparagus <3

Architects voted sexiest professionals → worldarchitecturenews.com

quite intriguing considering that about 95% of the archi students here at Cal are single. and this including those ‘fun’ friends some of us have. We’re all too busy looking good for everyone (aka submerged in archi work)

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” —Ira Glass

good is better than perfect.

It’s the day before a final review of our current project.

Studio. It’s a hectic environment it’s a different lifestyle.

A friend just broke down, tears and all. I think the thing we have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, we are developing our abilities to design space here, aesthetics and perfection are merely luxuries of time. (Not forgetting that in creating a functional space we do incorporate aesthetics because it’s part of the process) With that said, this girl is farther than us all, but a reminder that we go farther than we need to and yet fail to be satisfied at time.

In the end things play out better than expected despite our harshest critic that is ourselves.

My client said he was a bit of a photoshop wiz...

Incredibly hard not to reblog this one haha

clientsfromhell:

So I sent him the photoshop file for a mockup to review.

Client: Do you want some hard criticism?

Me: Sure.

Client: I think the design is really good, but the checkered, gray background is busy and distracting. Just saying, it’s not how I’d do it
